Waterfall
Without hesitation she stepped upon the first large stone emerging from
the water. A series of stones made a path over the pool of water and through the
wall. As she walked Eda knew this journey was not just her own, but somehow her
people’s too, the trespassers. The sound of the rushing water grew louder, but seemed
to feed her mind and ease her with knowledge. She could not go back now and she
was never meant to. This was sacred ground Chaka had said. A slow wind rippled
through the moss. Leaves shimmered and then fell, circling around her as she
continued to greet the waterfall. She stepped upon the last stone. Water
sprayed upon her hands and face, her feet stood in a shallow puddle. Releasing balled
fists, she walked through and the water overtook her all at once …
