Waterfall

Without hesitation she stepped upon the first large stone emerging from the water. A series of stones made a path over the pool of water and through the wall. As she walked Eda knew this journey was not just her own, but somehow her people’s too, the trespassers. The sound of the rushing water grew louder, but seemed to feed her mind and ease her with knowledge. She could not go back now and she was never meant to. This was sacred ground Chaka had said. A slow wind rippled through the moss. Leaves shimmered and then fell, circling around her as she continued to greet the waterfall. She stepped upon the last stone. Water sprayed upon her hands and face, her feet stood in a shallow puddle. Releasing balled fists, she walked through and the water overtook her all at once …

A Hidden Entrance

"Almost there, young Soppeun." He continued moving ahead without a glance back.

The sound of slow, steady drumming flowed through the trees. More moss engulfed the rocky path. Eda noticed the moss becoming a different color the thicker it got-- turning to vibrant shades of blue and violet. As they moved past the densely treed area, the drumming grew louder.

Finally they came to a clearing of just rock, now fully submerged in the thick, blue moss. Tall trees with sparkling turquoise leaves circled around the clearing.

"Beautiful," Eda whispered to herself. Chaka glanced down at her and his eyes softened.

"Before I had asked you who you are." He then softly said, "It is no wonder you found yourself lost in these woods."

He held up his staff and swiftly spoke words foreign to her. An enormous blue light shone from the tip of the ancient staff, and beamed to the center of the clearing.

The ground started shaking. Eda tried to balance herself but stumbled forward, grabbing onto Chaka's arm. He remained poised through the rumbling.

The center slowly opened up, with water erupting out in the form of a geyser. As the spouting water reached its peak, the shape of the geyser began to morph. While elongating itself into a wall, the flow eased up and started pouring downward. A pool of water gathered at the bottom of the newly formed waterfall. The ground stopped shaking, but she still held tightly onto his arm.

"Now, it's time to find out who you are, Lady Wineda of the Soppeun galaxy."

"W-what about my friend? I need to find her. She's probably so scared right now."

"Young Wineda, you must go now before the wall of water vanishes. So many questions you ask, but all the answers you will discover through which lies ahead."

Eda let go of his arm then turned to stare deep into his eyes, scoping out any ill intentions or hints of betrayal. A warm wave rushed across her face and down her spine. He gracefully swept up his arm in the direction of the wall and bowed.

She was unsure how to respond, so she tried to mimic him and unsteadily bowed. Eda walked a few steps forward then hesitated.

"But will I see you--" she quickly turned around to find herself alone, "-- again?" She looked around but Chaka had vanished. The sound of the drumming was hidden behind the water gushing that flooded her mind. Her feet continued walking towards the waterfall wall...

The Ditch

The forest was barely lit by a dim light at the tip of his staff. "Speak wisely now, what it is you wish to ask?" He held his fist towards her and opened it. A glowing blue mist escape that whipped up into her mouth and cooled her throat.

She coughed and stopped to looked around as if with her voice, she had also regained power over her roaming thoughts. Chaka slowed his march, but even with his steady strides she still hurried to catch up.

"Where is it you're taking me? I must find my friend. She was here with me. We got separated once those... things started chasing us."

"It's possible she escaped, but I cannot pity the fate of a trespasser. The unkoo do what they will. But I've answered your question, and you who know who I am. Who are you trespasser?"

"Eda, well, Lady Wineda of the great spiral galaxy Soppeun. My father and our people came to this moon to build a new colony. But you haven't told me where we are go-"

Chaka descended suddenly, until Eda noticed he had walked down into a ditch hidden by the darkness. She jumped down into it and followed Chaka around a curved and rocky path. They were walking a perimeter towards the base of some mountain. Until now the journey had been crunchy and quick as they stepped over twigs and dry leaves. This path was all rock with a thick moss grown over. She would not have even noticed this hide away if she was wasn't being led....

Following Chaka

Hesitantly she nodded, for words could not escape her mouth.  How did she know to trust this creature?  In all of the tales she had heard of this place no one has ever mentioned him--or at least lived to tell about it. Her eyes shot from tree to tree and beyond, trying to just grasp her surroundings. While she stood gazing around the forest, Chaka's eyes focused on her face.  Movement was everywhere; she could see shadows creep around in the background of the forest.

"We must go now."

She walked a little behind Chaka but still kept up.  She could feel him adjust his pace for her small feet and skepticism.  They have been walking for a short while.  Still in silence.

The shades of colors have shifted in the forest, she noticed.  Unfamiliar sounds came from up ahead.

Chaka turned around to face her and paused......

Protector of Obidust

While she stood up and brushed off her pants she looked around to find a long brown nose like a horse with a pig snout sniffing her at her shoulder. Feeling its warm breath and hearing its soft inhales, she screamed. But her voice cut off before she could hit her highest pitch. The creature backed away and lifted up a fist as if her scream was held within it--its hands were human. The other hand grasped a thick staff. The rest of its body was hidden in a mud colored robe. The roots she had seen crawling inched their way into its crevices. One stood upon the creature's shoulder and one curled itself around it's long ear. She couldn't stop staring at the three horns protruding from the center of its brow. She stepped back, but the creature stepped forward. He threw his fist and a blue glow zoomed past her. She heard the tail end of her scream escape somewhere deep in the forest. Now it would be impossible for Sonna to find her...

"I am Chaka, Protector of Obidust," he said at last. The forest seemed to groan in response and she felt she was surrounded. "Your people's presence have disturbed our sacred ground. Come with me and I promise if you do not, worse things will meet you in this forest." ....

Obidust Forest

Eda's thick, purple hair whipped around her face as the monstrous groans kept growing louder. Her feet could not seem to keep up with her mind as she dodged through the trees in the thick Obidust forest. She had always heard stories about Obidust and knew she never wanted to discover if they were true or not; that didn't matter now.

Her hands met the chilly, damp ground. She turned around to see a large tree root that caught her foot.  She knew she was a great runner from all of those races with track and field club from school, so how could she have tripped? She grunted as she tried to get up but a creaking sound swept over her as the roots started moving up her leg.

"%*@$!" She quickly yanked them off and jumped from the ground. The roots slowly crawled away with disappointment. The roaring groans still filled the air and no matter how fast she tried to run, it still followed. When she stood up and brushed off her pants she looked around to find....
