While she stood up and brushed off her pants she looked
around to find a long brown nose like a horse with a pig snout sniffing her at her shoulder. Feeling its warm breath and hearing its soft inhales, she screamed. But her voice cut off before she could hit her highest pitch. The creature backed away and lifted up a fist as if her scream was held within it--its hands were human. The other hand grasped a thick staff. The rest of its body was hidden in a mud colored robe. The roots she had seen crawling inched their way into its crevices. One stood upon the creature's shoulder and one curled itself around it's long ear. She couldn't stop staring at the three horns protruding from the center of its brow. She stepped back, but the creature stepped forward. He threw his fist and a blue glow zoomed past her. She heard the tail end of her scream escape somewhere deep in the forest. Now it would be impossible for Sonna to find her...
"I am Chaka, Protector of Obidust," he said at last. The forest seemed to groan in response and she felt she was surrounded. "Your people's presence have disturbed our sacred ground. Come with me and I promise if you do not, worse things will meet you in this forest." ....
